Dewey Stewart oral history, 1969.

In this interview, Dewey Stewart shares his observations of the New York State sugar beet industry. Topics include: his recommendation of Charles Lavis to be a consultant for the Redevelopment Area Organization of Cayuga County, N.Y.; his impressions of the 1962 sugar beet field trials in New York; the relationship between the USDA, the New York State College of Agriculture, PepsiCo, Inc., and the Redevelopment Area Organization, including the administration by the USDA's Agricultural Research Serivce of Area Redevelopment Administration funds for field trials conducted by the New York State College of Agriculture; the feed value of sugar beet by-products, including the effect of pesticides on and the interest of Beacon Feeds in these by-products; and his impressions of Colly Parrish and James B. Smith.
